Taipei City Night View - Xinyi District
After work, I walked alone into the mountains on the outskirts of Taipei. From the heights, the city lights stretched like a sea, shimmering with the countless traces of human lives. A breeze swept through the forest, carrying the coolness of the night. I sat quietly, watching this never-ceasing display of brilliance. Towers rose like forests, traffic flowed like threads—everything seemed to be racing toward some destination, which might also be a beginning. In this moment of stillness, I felt like a mere speck in the vast world. Time seemed to pause, yet slipped away through starlight and neon glow. The night view was like a painting—like a dream—reminding me to cherish the present and to honor each breath and every moment of quiet reflection.
First stop: the main entrance of Bishanyan
The winding stairs give Bishanyan a quaint style at night. There are many ancient temples in the mountainous areas near Taipei, which are great places to view the night view of Taipei city.
First stop: Bishan Rock overlooking Songshan Airport and Shin Kong Building
Bishan Temple in Taipei is like a serene lookout hidden within the forested hills. As night falls, the city lights spread from the foot of the mountain to the distant horizon, illuminating the border between mountains and sea. A gentle breeze brushes the face, and distant skyscrapers shimmer like a galaxy, as if revealing the outlines of countless dreams. This place is the most poetic page in the book of night.
First stop: Bishanyan overlooking Nangang Software Park and Nangang Station
Bishanyan is about 270 meters above sea level and is located on the hillside between Jinmian Mountain, Daluntou Mountain and Liyu Mountain in Neihu District. The temple faces south and overlooks the entire Taipei Basin. Looking to the east, you can see Badu as far as the distance, and looking to the west, you can see Banqiao, Yonghe, and Xindian areas. So this is the first good place to overlook the night view of Taipei.
First stop: Bishan Rock overlooking the Nangang Software ParkThis photo was taken by Ah-Hong using the brand-new CANON RF200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM lens. Although this lens has a long focal range, the optimal focal length for night photography is within 400mm, as the aperture can still remain at F6.3. Beyond that, the aperture becomes smaller, requiring a higher ISO setting, which in turn increases image noise.
This picture is also a night view of Dahu Park taken with the new CANON RF200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM lens. You can see the reflection of the Wenhu Line MRT viaduct in the lake of Dahu Park.
Second stop: Behind Yangmingshan Cultural University
In Taipei, one of the most beloved romantic dates for young people is riding a scooter up to the back hill of Chinese Culture University on Yangmingshan to enjoy the night view. As they wind up the mountain road, the cool night breeze blows gently, taking them away from the city's hustle and bustle to a wide, open mountainside. From the back hill, they overlook the entire Taipei Basin—city lights shimmer like stars reflected on the earth. There are no large crowds here, only the sound of the wind and the laughter of lovers. Whether it's couples sharing heartfelt talks or friends casually chatting, the back hill of Culture University is a secret hideaway of youth. The night view is poetic, the scooters swift like the wind—this is a memory of Taipei that belongs uniquely to the young.
