一家傳承百年的製鼓技藝,靜默在新莊中正路旁。等待著對文化有熱情的識貨人,前來欣賞這百年的製鼓技藝。如今充斥資本主義盛行的工業化社會上,想聽見純手工的宏偉鼓聲,你只能來這裡拜訪王錫坤老師,期待老師介紹他一生的故事,並敲響他的作品,你才可以聽見這樣令人動容的震撼之聲。
A family that has inherited the art of making drums for a century stands quietly beside Zhongzheng Road in Xinzhuang, waiting for people who are passionate about culture to come and appreciate the century-old art of making drums. In today's industrialized society where capitalism prevails, if you want to hear the magnificent sound of pure handmade drums, you can only come here to visit Mr. Wang Xikun, expecting him to introduce his life story and play his works, so that you can hear such a moving and shocking sound.
百年鼓聲中的堅持與因緣
Persistence and fate in the sound of drums over a century
响仁和製鼓場創立於1927年,位於中正路旁,近百年來鼓聲與車聲交織。第二代傳人王錫坤在父親過世後接手製鼓場,將記憶化為技藝,並於2001年設立鼓事館,收藏多種鼓作,包括父親阿塗師的作品。王錫坤原本學的是工商管理,親戚一句「沒才調」激發他自學製鼓,即使起步艱難、體力不足,仍靠試錯與堅持,逐步掌握製鼓技巧。
Xiangrenhe Drum Art Workshop was founded in 1927 and is located on Zhongzheng Road. For nearly a hundred years, the sound of drums and the sound of cars have intertwined. The second-generation successor Wang Xikun took over the workshop after his father passed away. He turned his memories into skills and established the Drum Cultural Museum in 2001, which collects a variety of drum works, including the works of his father, Master A Tu. Wang Xikun originally studied business administration, but a relative's words "no talent" inspired him to learn to make drums by himself. Although he had a difficult start and lacked physical strength, he relied on trial and error and persistence to gradually master the skills of making drums.

來到製鼓場時,你可以見到許多的宮廟,將年事已高的大鼓送到這裡來整修一番。王師傅他就像這些鼓的醫生,一個一個為其把脈診斷,最後將這些鼓修復完畢而妙手回春。
When you come to the drum workshop, you can see many temples sending old drums here for repair. Master Wang is like a doctor for these drums, diagnosing them one by one and finally repairing them.
技藝蘊藏於細節與等待
Skills lie in details and waiting
製鼓不僅是技藝,更是一門講究等待與精準的工藝。從水溫控制、牛皮削薄、木材乾燥,到繃鼓曬皮,每一步都不能急躁。有時甚至需重新來過,等待一張合適的牛皮或木材長達數月甚至一年。王錫坤表示,一顆好鼓要花多少時間完成並無定數,只要不妥協、不放棄,就能做到心中完美的樣貌。
Making drums is not only a skill, but also a craft that requires patience and precision. From controlling the water temperature, thinning the cowhide, drying the wood, to stretching the drum and drying the skin, every step must be done with caution. Sometimes you even have to start over and wait for a suitable cowhide or wood for months or even a year. Wang Xikun said that there is no fixed time to complete a good drum, as long as you don't compromise and don't give up, you can achieve the perfect look in your mind.

王老師用心打造這間鼓事館,鼓事館的大門手把與玻璃都精心挑選。外面的地磚與柱頭也是包含東方文化意涵。
Teacher Wang carefully built this exhibition hall. The door handles and glass of the exhibition hall were carefully selected. The floor tiles and column capitals outside also contain oriental cultural connotations.

東方廟宇文化中晨鐘與暮鼓是廟宇中每日不可或缺的重要儀式,而一顆好的鼓,則需要匠人們匠心獨具的技術來製作,從選材至技藝都不可馬虎。新莊有一位傳承父親製鼓技藝,如今年事已高的老師傅。但是他還是對鼓有著親切的感情,從他介紹作品時的雀躍就可以看出。
In the oriental temple culture, morning bells and evening drums are important daily rituals in temples. A good drum requires the craftsmen’s unique skills to make it, and everything from material selection to craftsmanship cannot be sloppy. In Xinzhuang, there is an old master who inherited the drum-making skills from his father. However, he still has a warm feeling for the drum, which can be seen from his excitement when he introduced his work.
鎮館之寶之一 : 阿塗師傳承之鼓
One of the museum’s most treasured treasures: the cultural significance of the drum tradition passed down by Master Atu.
阿塗師是誰 ? 阿塗師本名 : 王桂枝。他就是館長王錫坤的師傅,西元1973年阿塗師因病離世後,館長王錫坤潛心鑽研鼓藝,踏上了製鼓大師之路。而這個大鼓也是阿塗師親手打造的得意之作。
Who is Master A Tu? Master A Tu's real name is Wang Guizhi. He is the master of the museum director Wang Xikun. After Master A Tu passed away due to illness in 1973, the museum director Wang Xikun devoted himself to studying drum art and embarked on the road of becoming a master drum maker. This big drum is also a masterpiece made by Master A Tu himself.

王錫坤老師請我們將耳朵靠近這棵超過九十歲的大鼓的鼓面,大夥們非常驚訝,打鼓會發出低鳴的聲音與妳對話。我們一夥人嘖嘖稱奇。
Teacher Wang Xikun asked us to put our ears close to the drumhead of this drum which is over 90 years old. We were very surprised that the drum would make a low humming sound and talk to you. We were all amazed.

鎮館之寶二 - 台灣神宮遺留下的大鼓
The second treasure of the museum -
the drum left over from the Taiwanese shrine during the Japanese era
台灣神社起初是西元1900年,為了紀念並主祀北白川宮能久親王而建。並於1944年增祀天照大神而改名台灣神宮。相傳此神宮中有二座大鼓,其中一鼓因日本戰敗後流轉至艋舺龍山寺,最後被台灣博物館收藏,另一座大鼓則下落不明。
The Taiwan Shrine was originally built in 1900 to commemorate and enshrine Prince Kitashirakawa Norihisa. In 1944, the shrine was renamed Taiwan Shrine to enshrine Amaterasu Omikami. According to legend, there are two drums in this shrine. One of the drums was transferred to Longshan Temple in Monga after Japan's defeat and was finally collected by the Taiwan Museum. The whereabouts of the other drum is unknown.

直到有一日某民間收藏家帶著一個破舊不堪的大鼓來找王錫坤老師。而王老師看此鼓破舊不堪,修復極其昂貴,他就用店中的上等之鼓與之交換。結果再處理這鼓身時意外發現,這鼓肚中竟有日本技師的簽名。王錫坤再將鼓身漆面去除後,鼓身是座獨木鼓,並刻有台灣神社四個大字。才意外將已消失的台灣神社另一座大鼓重現於世。
Until one day, a folk collector brought a tattered drum to Wang Xikun. Wang Xikun saw that the drum was tattered and extremely expensive to repair, so he exchanged it with a high-quality drum in his store. As a result, when he processed the drum body, he accidentally found the signature of a Japanese technician in the drum belly. After Wang Xikun removed the paint on the drum body, he found that the drum body was a single-wood drum with four big characters engraved on it: Taiwan Shrine. He accidentally reappeared another drum of Taiwan Shrine that had disappeared.

王錫坤視製鼓為一場內在修行,他首創「東方五音鼓」,結合國樂音階與京劇臉譜,為每顆鼓賦予性格。他認為匠人要耐得住寂寞,工藝需靠興趣與信念支撐。為了生活,也為理想,他持續學習武功、生漆、漆器等,與藝術家合作,讓鼓不只是一項技藝,而是藝術與生命的延伸。
Wang Xikun regards drum making as an inner practice. He pioneered the "Oriental Five-tone Drum", combining the scale of Chinese music and Peking Opera masks to give each drum its own personality. He believes that craftsmen must be able to endure loneliness, and craftsmanship must be supported by interest and belief. For the sake of life and ideals, he continues to learn martial arts, raw lacquer, lacquerware, etc., and cooperates with artists to make drums not just a skill, but an extension of art and life.

2009年响仁和與交通大學、樂生療養院合作,以鼓聲進行療癒計畫,也推動樂齡健身。王錫坤將鼓的功能帶入生活,使工藝融入日常。他從父親手中接下响仁和,再交棒給兒子,秉持初心。身為土生土長的新莊人,他懷念早年的慢生活與自然景觀,認為在新莊的緣分與文化滋養,讓他更懂得謙遜與精進。
In 2009, Xiangrenhe cooperated with National Chiao Tung University and Le Sheng Nursing Home to conduct a healing program with drum sounds and promote fitness for the elderly. Wang Xikun brought the function of drums into life and integrated the craft into daily life. He took over Xiangrenhe from his father and then passed the baton to his son, adhering to his original intention. As a native of Xinzhuang, he misses the slow life and natural landscape of his early years. He believes that the fate and cultural nourishment in Xinzhuang have made him more humble and diligent.
